“Can You Affiliate The Love Tonight?”

by Adam on February 23, 2010

Yes – that’s the well known Elton John online money-making classic right there ;)

Now, you might have had Affiliate Marketing (referral marketing, reseller marketing, whatever) smashed into your face by internet marketers more times than a podgy mixed martial arts fighter, but I’ll guarantee that BECAUSE of that, your brain is likely to easily overlook the most important reasons for doing affiliate marketing (i.e earning commissions for finding customers for other people’s products) AND doing it effectively…

It’s a bit like having 3 bottles of cheapo wine: so much cheap crap literally makes you want to be sick. BUT, if only you’d had just ONE drink of a classy, fruity,  full flavored vintage, you might have appreciated wine in general a lot more (at least for the 5 minute interlude before downing 6 beers and a dirty great pizza).

I was fortunate enough to interview a literal direct marketing legend last year – a fantastic and REAL entrepreneur called Jim Straw (not some 2-bit ‘Goop-ru’ wearing someone else’s business T-shirt) and there was something in there you should take REAL time to digest…

[Interlude]
Oops!
It seems I’ve just dropped a special coupon out of my pocket for getting the full interview for 75% off. Silly me!
Pick it up if you fancy a bargain – click here for Jim Straw’s “$400 Million Dollar” interview (it’s an easy-read ebook).
[Interlude end]

…Jim said that if he had to start all over again he’d choose affiliate marketing over creating and selling  his own products.

Now, there’ll be lots of people (many with opinions as valuable as the Zimbabwe dollar) that disagree…

…but listen a second – who gives a flying fduck about those opinions? Jim’s a proven business success across the last 50-years. Who ya gonna put yer money on? ;) [Note: there's no 'right' or 'wrong' to this: I just want  you to understand why Jim would take that option].

You see (in my humble-and-possibly-foolhardy-opinion) there’s one MASSIVE reason to have a big focus on affiliate marketing…

  • …forget that the products aren’t yours…
  • …forget that there’s stacks of increasing affiliate competition out there…
  • …forget the reliance on the merchant to pay what they owe…

…the NUMBER ONE reason to get stuck into being an affiliate is that you FOCUS on the NUMBER ONE ingredient for generating wealth…

ACTIVELY LEARNING HOW TO SELL!

“Ooh! Errr! Yeuch! I don’t want to do the S-word…”

I hear your pain – it’s all too easy to shy away from getting stuck into the REAL world of selling (or more accurately with affiliate marketing: pre-selling). I myself won an Olympic Gold Medal in avoiding promotion.

Thing is, for most people who decide to create a product in order to sell it, it’s with the idea of ‘working solo from home’ and without employees.

So what happens?…

  • You have no sales force (except you)…
  • And because you’ll do almost anything to avoid promoting and selling, you gravitate to spending all your time creating and tweaking the friggin product…
  • …while not developing a base of customers who are going to buy it!…
  • …then you wonder why there are no customer and barely a penny in the bank for all your effort 3 months down the road.

If that sounds just a little teensy-weensy bit like you, then maybe – just maybe – it’s worth investing some time promoting other people’s products for a wee while?

The trouble is there’s so much of the usual crap-fest of “become a $million-dollar affiliate inside 24hours” products vying for attention, it’s hard to know where to start in order to get a basic, fast, and effective grounding.

Well tomorrow I’m going to introduce you to a real king of affiliate marketing: not some bastard-prince from the provinces who’s just out to over-hype another rehashed “make a million in 24 hours” deal…

…This guy is different. A genuine and understated font of REAL WORLD affiliate marketing. So much so that you’ll have a serious upper-hand on using his ‘blueprints’. And tomorrow I’ll introduce you to him.

In the meantime,  take advantage of that Jim Straw Interview coupon that dropped out my pocket. You will not regret getting to know someone of Jim’s business caliber.

Go on – I dare you: strike me down with your words, you…you…word-striker-downer you!
