Marlon Sanders Mad-tastic Product Creation Mayhem

by Adam on April 19, 2009

A week ago, I decided to use the challenge laid down by Marlon Sanders (the Christopher Lloyd/Doc Brown personality of ‘Internet Marketing’) to force the completion of 2 projects that had been pushed to the sidelines for this particular part of our business (digital products).

You can read Marlon’s post here:

MISSED OUT On $2,000 In Sales — Today!

By the way: pretty much anything by Marlon is recommended reading – he’s not just a “walk the walk”-er who’s been succeeding since modems were made out of stone, he’s also a natural at incorporating the all-important E-word into his marketing: entertainment.

So anyway, did the challenge work out?…

Kind of. It certainly highlighted my weak spots and strengths in relation to fast and effective product creation.

I’ll outline my aims, and then over the next few posts I’ll tell you where the mistakes were made:

Aim:

2 products ready for promotion and sales.

About the products:

One is a script. One is an interview.

The script needed a rewrite, new instructions, and a re-jigged sales page.

The interview needed to be completed and formatted (with extra notes), the bonus reports and graphics to be created, and the sales page written.

The results:

So after exactly a week, both projects are nearing the point at which they can be sold. One within 2 more days, the other within the week.

Yes, yes I know – that means a FAIL for completing one within the week.

BUT it will still mean that 2 products should get completed inside 14 days.

Plus there are 3 super-important and valuable lessons to be leaned (or reminded about) from the process, that’s for sure!

I’ll lay them out here, and go through them in subsequent posts (seeing as your boredom threshold has probably already been compromised :) )…

2. “Your Eyes Are Bigger Than Your Belly”

3. “Enough is Enough. Any More Is Too Much”
